Oxford Professional English (OPE) consists of a team of English language specialist teachers and is one department of Oxford Professional Consulting.


Our Founder and Managing Director

Alison Haill MA, PGCE, MA
Managing Director of Oxford Professional Consulting

Alison started her career as a teacher of English as a Foreign Language. She lived and taught first in Brazil for 2 years, then in Slovenia and Croatia, then for 2 years in Egypt and finally for 6 years in Singapore. She now lives and works in Oxford, England, where she founded Oxford Professional Consulting with its specialist English department, Oxford Professional English (OPE).

Alison has extensive experience in advising clients on the best training solutions for effective international communication in English.

She has three university degrees:

• Masters in Hispanic Studies from St Andrews University
• Post-graduate Certificate in Education from London University
• Masters in Applied English Linguistics from Birmingham University.

Alison speaks several languages and has wide practical experience of international communication. She is a member of the Institute of Management, The Society for Intercultural Education and Research (SIETAR) and the International Association of Teachers of English to Foreign Learners (IATEFL).


Our Teachers

Consultant Teachers

These are our most experienced teachers of English. Each member of the Oxford Professional English team of Consultant Teachers is carefully selected. They each have all of the following:

• a university degree in English or another relevant subject
• a specific qualification in teaching English as a foreign language
• an international track-record
• 10-25 years' experience in working with business executives and professionals to help them improve use of English, increase confidence in the language and achieve individual language aims.

Specialist Teachers

In addition, we have a team of Specialist Teachers all well qualified to teach English. They come from a range of different professional backgrounds, to give more variety in our programmes and meet the needs of our clients. Each of these teachers has met the following criteria:

• an international track-record
• either experience of working in a corporate environment or specialist knowledge and experience in a particular field
• at least 6 years' experience as an English teacher or translator
• a qualification in teaching English as a foreign language.

Very occasionally we will accept a teacher who has fewer than 6 years of teaching experience, when they have another skill which is valuable in improving English for professionals.

All our English language teachers have studied and speak at least one foreign language so that they know the difficulties and enjoyment of being a language learner. Across the team we have studied or speak over 20 languages.

For professionals in the aviation industry, we can offer English for Aviation with one of our specialist associates.
